Important note regarding the use of electric bicycles
Power Ped electric bicycles are designed as a Power ASSISTED bicycle. Our bicycles look like, feel like and ride like a regular human powered bicycle. As such you are required to pedal assist the bicycle to ensure proper use and maximize performance. Our Electric Bicycles can be ridden effectively with or without motor support due to the advanced geared brushless DC auxiliary motor. This allows the motor to have unrestricted freewheeling capabilities when not in use. We also feature high quality bicycle gears, sprockets, cranks and pedals used on many standard non power assisted bicycles.
Power Ped 2008 bicycles feature a unique Power Assist Sensor (PAS) activated via the pedal stroke of the bicycle. This feature ensures the user pedals the bicycle to achieve the specified performance figures.
Many heavy (60kg+) Motor Scooter Style electric bicycles do not allow you to effectively pedal the bicycle due their excessive weight and poor pedal placement and function. PAS allows economical supply of battery power and maximizes motor performance.
