Why Electric?
The term “Electric Vehicles” covers a diverse range of products. Personal Electric Vehicles are based on the latest technology. Although Electric Vehicle technology has been around for over one hundred years, this very efficient technology is now becoming an affordable, sustainable, real world solution.
Electric Vehicles are not to be considered a toy. They are actually quite the opposite, they are unmistakably serious machines. Some Electric Vehicles make petrol cars look like a joke. They have been proved to be a user friendly and environmentally sound form of transport over the past 10 years.
Electric transport has been used and accepted for years in other countries like America and Europe but it is relatively new to Australia. Australia holds more restrictive laws then most other countries which has held back the technology. But there are still many Legal transportation solutions available in Australia the major forms being Electric Bicycles, Scooters, Tricycles, and Mobility Scooters.
All battery powered vehicles have a limited range, but many of the available Electric Vehicles and Mobility Scooters have a completly adequate range for the ordinary user. Most of the Electric Bikes that we sell will take you to and from your work if it is 10km away and still have plenty of power left to go for another 5 – 20kms in usual conditions.
There are many benefits of owning an electric bike. They are nearly completely silent so you can enjoy a smooth comfortable ride with no fumes, vibrations or oil. Most electric bikes have their motor built into the hub of the wheel. This is far superior to chain, belt or friction drive as there is no need for maintenance, there is no energy loss during transmission, they are waterproof and they produce minimal sound and vibrations.
Surprisingly enough, in a lot of metro areas electric bikes can often be a faster way to get around, there is certainly no congestion in the bike lanes, and no traffic lights on a lot of bike paths. If you happen to care about the environment as electric put out no emissions or oils. Electric Vehicles are a very community friendly form of transport as they will have a minimal impact on road congestion, and make no noise, and you won’t have to worry about finding a park, parking tickets, fuel prices and parking prices again.
The Electric Bikes that are legal will typically travel at about the same speed as a push-bike but you can travel up to 50kms on one charge without you even breaking a sweat. You can also combine you pedal power with the power of the motor, you can simply pedal when you like.
So at the end of the day the few drawbacks of electric vehicles (especially electric bikes) are totally outnumbered by the benefits.
